Strife’s new EP “Incision” is out today. We approached guitarist Andrew Kline about the new effort and basically gave him free range to tell us all about the new EP and how it came together. Here is what he wrote…
Our brand new EP “Incision” is out today on WAR Records. Strife has released a number of records over the years, and I am excited to finally be releasing a Strife record on my own label! I have always thought about starting my own label, and I think that this Strife EP is a perfect way to start. We have dealt with a few different labels over the course of the band, from New Age to Victory to 6131, and no one has been perfect. I did most of the work that went into “Witness A Rebirth”… I funded the album, I made the promos videos, I set up the video shoots, and in the end I felt like the label didn't do much that I couldn’t have done myself. I really felt that I could do a better job than a lot of the labels out there, and if a mistake was made I could blame myself. I hope everyone appreciates all of the hard work that went into making this record something special and something a bit different.
“Incision” is being released as a one sided 12” as well as on CD, cassette, and as a digital download. I listen to records a lot at my house, most of the time when I am working on the computer, and I notice I rarely listen to my seven inches anymore because I have to stop what I am doing and flip them over all of the time. This decision lead me to release “Incision” as a one sided 12”. The limited preorder comes with the artwork hand screened on the B-side, and all of the records come with a really cool 12X24” poster/lyric sheet. I did my best to keep the prices low, and the digital download is $3.98, and the CD should be available in stores for only $5. Musically, Incision picks up right where “Witness A Rebirth” left off… Straight forward, and in your face hardcore.

“Still Searching”
“Still Searching” is about people who are searching for answers, and lose themselves in religion. I have a friend that was lost in life… He was Christian, he was Krsna, later he turned straight edge, then he got lost in drugs, eventually he tried to convert to Judaism. I always thought if he just took the time to look inside himself,he could find what he was looking for.
“Always question - This great deception - Never follow - Seek true redemption”
“Incision”
“Incision” is definitely one of the darker songs that we have ever written. This song has two voices. Human Furnace sings from the perspective of the main character. He has given up on life, and he is contemplating suicide. Rick is the evil voice in his head telling him to kill himself… I really love the way this song came out. The riffs screamed Clevo HC, so I knew I wanted Human Furnace on the track. Human Furnace has one of the craziest voices in hardcore, and we have all been fans of Ringworm since we first heard the demo. I was super excited that I was able to track down Aaron Melnick (Ex Integrity) for a rare appearance as well. Aaron ripped a crazy solo in full “Systems Overload” style!
“Forsaken life for demons - The fear has killed the light - Open scars wont heal
- Cut the strings that rule your life”
“Revelations”
“Revelations” is a pretty political song… It’s a warning to all those that have raped and exploited the earth for their own personal gain. One day we will hit a tipping point, and we will all be forced to live in a hell that we created.
“No remorse - No forgiveness - For these crimes against Humanity - Eternal torment is now yours”
“Police Story”
“Police Story” is a Black Flag cover, and I feel like the lyrics are just as relevant today as to when they were written. People dying in the hands of the police is nothing new, but police officers across the country have reached new levels of brutality which has resulted in an exorbitant amount of fatalities. We stand in solidarity with the protestors in Ferguson and the Black Lives Matter movement.
“Understand we're fighting a war we can't win - They hate us, we hate them - We can't win - No way”
